Watching over them were several loyal Sheepdogs.
The Dogs protected the Sheep from danger.
Not far away, a pack of hungry Wolves watched from the edge of the forest.
The Wolves wanted to catch the Sheep, but the brave Dogs always chased them away.
No matter how hard the Wolves tried, they could never get close.
One day, the Wolves came up with a clever plan.
Instead of using their strength, they decided to use trickery.
The leader of the Wolves called out to the Sheep.
“Why can’t we all be friends?” he asked.
“We don’t want to fight.”
“The real problem is those Dogs.”
“They keep us apart and cause all the trouble.”
“If you send the Dogs away, we can live together in peace.”
The Sheep listened carefully.
The Wolves sounded friendly.
Some of the Sheep began to believe them.
“Maybe the Wolves are right,” they said.
“Perhaps we don’t need the Dogs anymore.”
So the Sheep thanked the Dogs for their help and asked them to leave.
The loyal Dogs were sad, but they quietly went away.
That night, the Wolves returned.
Without the Dogs there to protect them, the Sheep had no one to defend them.
The Wolves rushed into the pasture.
The Sheep quickly realized they had made a terrible mistake.
The Wolves had never wanted to be friends.
They only wanted the Sheep to be unprotected.
By trusting their enemies and sending away their true friends, the Sheep had put themselves in danger.
The Lesson: Do not give up loyal friends for those who may not have your best interests at heart. True friends protect and support you.
