The Donkey in the Lion’s Skin π¦π« | A Simple Audiobook Story for Kids | Aesop’s Fables
Once upon a time, an donkey was wandering through the forest.
As he walked, he discovered something unusual lying on the ground.
It was a Lion’s skin that a hunter had left behind.
The donkey looked at it and had an idea.
“If I wear this,” he thought, “everyone will think I am a mighty Lion!”
So he put on the Lion’s skin.
When he looked at himself, he was very pleased.
He really did look like a Lion.
The donkey hid behind some bushes and waited.
Soon, a deer walked by.
The donkey jumped out.
The deer saw what looked like a Lion and ran away as fast as it could.
A rabbit came along.
It ran away too.
Then a group of animals passed by.
They all fled in fear.
The donkey was delighted.
“They all think I’m a Lion!” he thought proudly.
The more animals that ran away, the happier he became.
Soon he could not contain his excitement.
He opened his mouth to celebrate.
“HEE-HAW! HEE-HAW!”
His loud donkey bray echoed through the forest.
A Fox, who had been running away with the other animals, suddenly stopped.
The moment he heard the sound, he knew the truth.
The Fox walked back and looked closely at the donkey.
Then he laughed.
“If you had stayed quiet,” said the Fox, “you might have fooled me too.”
“But the moment you opened your mouth, I knew exactly who you were.”
The donkey felt very embarrassed.
He had learned a valuable lesson that pretending to be someone else is not as easy as it seems.
You can sometimes fool others with appearances, but your words and actions will reveal who you really are.
