One morning, a hungry Wolf wandered near a small cottage on the edge of a village. As he passed by, he heard a baby crying inside.
Then he heard the mother say:
“Quiet now, little one. Stop crying, or I’ll give you to the Wolf!”

The Wolf’s ears perked up.
“A baby for breakfast?” he thought. “What a lucky day!”
Excited by the idea, he settled down beneath the window and waited. Surely the mother would hand the child over any moment.
But the minutes passed. Then hours passed.
The baby cried on and off throughout the day, and the Wolf waited patiently. Yet no one came to the door.
As evening arrived, the Wolf heard the mother’s voice again. This time, her tone was gentle as she rocked her baby to sleep.
“There, there, my precious child,” she said. “Don’t be afraid. The Wolf will never get you. Your family will always keep you safe.”
The Wolf couldn’t believe what he was hearing.
“First she says she’ll give me the child,” he grumbled, “and now she says I’ll never get near it!”
Just then, the baby’s father returned home. Seeing the Wolf lurking nearby, he called the dogs. The Wolf ran as fast as he could and barely escaped.
As he disappeared into the woods, he muttered:
“Next time, I won’t trust every word I hear.”
Moral: Don’t believe everything you hear. People don’t always mean what they say.
