The Lion’s Share 🦁🦊🐺 | A Simple Audiobook Story for Kids | Aesop’s Fables

Once upon a time, a Lion, a Fox, a Jackal, and a Wolf decided to go hunting together.
“We will work as a team,” said the Lion.
“And whatever we catch, we will share equally.”
The others agreed.
For many days, they searched for food together.
Then one day, the Wolf caught a large Stag.
Excited by the successful hunt, he called his friends.
“Come quickly!” he shouted.
“We have a feast to share!”
The four animals gathered around the Stag.
The Lion stepped forward.
“As king of the animals,” he said, “I will divide the meal.”
The others watched as the Lion carefully cut the Stag into four equal parts.
When he was finished, the Lion smiled.
“There are four of us,” he said.
“One part for me, the Lion.”
“One part for the Wolf.”
“One part for the Jackal.”
“And one part for the Fox.”
The others nodded.
That seemed fair.
But then the Lion continued.
“I am the king, so I will take the first part.”
The Lion pulled the first share toward himself.
“I am also the strongest, so I will take the second part.”
He pulled over the second share.
“And because I am the bravest, I will take the third part as well.”
The Lion claimed the third share.
Now only one piece remained.
The Lion looked at the Wolf, the Fox, and the Jackal.
He narrowed his eyes and showed his sharp claws.
“If any of you think that last piece belongs to you,” he growled, “now is the time to say so.”
The Wolf looked down.
The Fox stayed silent.
The Jackal stepped back.
No one dared argue with the Lion.
So the Lion took the last piece too.
And that was the end of the sharing.
The other animals learned that some promises are not always kept fairly. Those with great power can sometimes take more than their fair share. True fairness requires honesty, respect, and justice.
