The Lion and the Mouse π¦π
One warm afternoon, a mighty Lion was sleeping peacefully in the forest.
His large head rested on his paws as he enjoyed a quiet nap.
Nearby, a little Mouse was scurrying through the grass.
She wasn’t paying attention and accidentally ran right across the Lion’s nose!
The Lion woke up with a roar.
In one quick move, he placed his huge paw on the tiny Mouse.
The frightened Mouse trembled.
“Please don’t hurt me!” she squeaked.
“Please let me go. Someday, I may be able to help you.”
The Lion looked at the tiny creature and laughed.
“You? Help me?” he said.
“You are so small!”
But the Lion was kind-hearted.
Instead of hurting the Mouse, he lifted his paw and let her go free.
“Thank you!” cried the Mouse.
Then she hurried away into the forest.
A few days later, the Lion was hunting in the woods.
Suddenly, he stepped into a hunter’s net.
The strong ropes wrapped around him.
The Lion pulled and tugged with all his might.
But he could not escape.
He roared loudly for help.
His mighty roar echoed through the forest.
The little Mouse heard it.
“That sounds like the Lion!” she said.
She quickly ran toward the sound.
Soon she found the Lion trapped in the net.
“Don’t worry,” said the Mouse. “I will help you.”
The Lion was surprised.
How could such a tiny Mouse help him?
The Mouse began to gnaw on the ropes with her sharp little teeth.
Nibble.
Gnaw.
Chew.
Little by little, the ropes started to break.
At last, one rope snapped.
Then another.
And another.
Soon the net fell apart, and the Lion was free.
The Lion stood up and smiled.
“You were right,” he said.
“I never thought a little Mouse could help a big Lion.”
The Mouse smiled back.
“And I never forgot your kindness.”
The two friends went their separate ways, both a little wiser than before.
The Lesson: A kindness is never wasted. Even the smallest friend can make a big difference.
