The Fox and the Crow π¦π§π¦ | A Simple Audiobook Story for Kids | Aesop’s Fables
One bright morning, a hungry Fox was walking through the forest looking for breakfast.
He sniffed the air as he searched for something tasty to eat.
Suddenly, he looked up and saw a Crow sitting on a tree branch.
The Crow had a piece of cheese in her beak.
The Fox’s eyes lit up.
“That cheese looks delicious,” he thought.
“I must find a way to get it.”
The clever Fox walked to the bottom of the tree and smiled up at the Crow.
“Good morning, beautiful Crow!” he called.
The Crow looked down at him but said nothing.
She held the cheese tightly in her beak.
The Fox continued.
“What shiny feathers you have!”
“And what strong, beautiful wings!”
“You must be the most magnificent bird in the entire forest.”
The Crow listened carefully.
She began to feel very pleased.
The Fox went on.
“I’m sure a bird as beautiful as you must also have a wonderful singing voice.”
“If only I could hear you sing, I would call you the Queen of All Birds!”
The Crow liked the sound of that.
She wanted very much to be admired.
She forgot to be careful.
She forgot about the cheese.
And she forgot that the Fox might be trying to trick her.
At last, she opened her beak to sing.
“CAW!”
But as soon as she opened her mouth, the cheese fell from her beak.
Down it dropped.
The Fox was waiting below.
Snap!
He caught the cheese and swallowed it.
Then he smiled and looked up at the Crow.
“Thank you for the delicious breakfast,” he said.
“You do have a voice, but next time, don’t let flattery fool you.”
The Crow felt embarrassed.
She had lost her breakfast because she listened to praise instead of thinking carefully.
The Lesson: Be careful of people who flatter you too much. Sometimes they may be trying to get something from you.
