The Eagle and the Jackdaw πŸ¦…πŸ¦ | A Simple Audiobook Story for Kids | Aesop’s Fables

One bright day, an Eagle soared high above the countryside.
With his strong wings and sharp eyes, he spotted a lamb in a field below.
The Eagle swooped down quickly.

With his powerful talons, he picked up the lamb and carried it away to his nest.
A Jackdaw was watching nearby.
The little bird was amazed.
“Wow!” said the Jackdaw. “If the Eagle can do that, then I can too!”
The Jackdaw was not nearly as big or as strong as the Eagle, but he wanted everyone to think he was.
So he puffed out his feathers and flew toward a large ram grazing in a meadow.
“I’ll show everyone how powerful I am!” he thought.
Down he swooped.
The Jackdaw landed on the ram’s back and grabbed its thick wool with his claws.
Then he tried to fly away.
But nothing happened.
He pulled.
He flapped.
He struggled.
His claws were tangled tightly in the ram’s wool!
The ram hardly even noticed he was there.
A shepherd nearby saw the poor Jackdaw flapping and fluttering.
He quickly understood what had happened.
The shepherd gently caught the bird and carried him home.
That evening, he showed the Jackdaw to his children.
“What a funny bird!” the children laughed.
“What kind of bird is it, Father?”
The shepherd smiled.
“This is a Jackdaw, my children.”
“But if you asked him, he would probably tell you he is an Eagle!”
The children laughed, and the Jackdaw felt very embarrassed.
He had learned an important lesson.

The Lesson: Do not pretend to be something you are not. Believe in yourself, but do not overestimate your abilities. Everyone has their own strengths.
